About Charles Joseph

Charles Joseph has over twenty years of experience in plaintiffs' employment law. He is the founding partner at Joseph & Kirschenbaum, a firm that has recovered over $200 million for clients, with major victories for workers in all occupations and industries.

A graduate of NYU School of Law, Charles worked for the major Wall Street law firm of Debevoise & Plimpton, where he learned how management can undermine valid employee claims. This motivated Charles to found his own firm, which stands up for workers and protects their rights.

Honors and Recognition

Charles has been honored by the Lawyer's Committee for Human Rights (now Human Rights First) for his pro bono work obtaining political asylum for China's leading literary dissident, as well as refugees from Haiti, Pakistan, Sudan, and Ukraine. He has also worked on behalf of the Center for Constitutional Rights.

Charles is active in the National Employment Law Project, the National Employment Lawyers Association, and the New York State Trial Lawyers Association. He has received a 5-star rating on Avvo and has been rated as a SuperLawyer.

Charles created Working Now and Then, a resource for workers and those who care about them. Its Your Rights articles offer detailed information on employment law — workplace discrimination, sexual harassment, wage theft, retaliation, wrongful termination, and hostile work environments — including what to do if your rights have been violated. The site specializes in New York law and also covers federal protections and employment law in New Jersey.

In addition to attorneys focused on employment law, the site publishes contributions from scholarly experts in the history of working.
